Chapter Two: Hawkpaw

"But why us? There's nothing special about us." Hawpaw said, trying to duck down as low as he could into the bramble bush.

"I don't know, mabye we all had a rotten fresh-kill?....No, that couldn't be it" meowed Leafpaw, lost in thought.

"But from now on, we all tell each other when we have dreams, okay?" mewed Hawkpaw, hoping they would. They were his littermates, he could trust them. But there was something about him, almost like he could sence more than just feelings, for he did that all his life. Ever sence he was a kit, he always knew how someone was feelingd, wierd. They squezed out from the bramble bush, and he could hear Mosstalon, his mentor calling out to him.

"Let's go to the training clearing."

Mosstalon whisked away, and Hawkpaw followed. When we got there, the clearing was empty, and sunlight glinted onto the hard packed earth, making it glow. Mosstalon stalked to the center, and Hawkpaw could tell that he was feeling impatient, as if he had something better to do. Hawkpaw snorted. It's not like this was a waste of time, this was important, training was always important.

"Let's learn about some more defensive moves. Try and dodge me."

He headed full speed at him, and Hawkpaw found himself tilting over, and tumbling on the ground.

"Try again."

He tried again thinking fast. This time, he put all of his wieght on his toes, and when Mosstalon got to him, he hoped neatly out of his path.

"How was that?" he asked hopefully, and noticed not only that Mosstalon was impressed, but noticing the imprortance of this lesson.

I wish I could've been that good when I was an apprenitce.

"Did you say something?" What was that? There was a vioce inside his head, and he didn't know is it was coming from Mosstalon or someone else. Hawkpaw looked around, but no one else was there.

"No...., c'mon, let's get on with this." He positioned himself again.

But was waz that? He looked, and there was a swirling orange cloud above Mosstalon. but then when he blinked, it was gone.
