Chapter Seven: Blood Splattered

Briarpaw

We charged into the clearing, powered by the revenge and justice in our hearts. The yowls from the two guards had awakened the other cats, and before I could blink the whole clearing exploded in snarling and hissing. Blood was already seeping out of wounds, I could smell it.
But is this what you want? I asked myself in my mind. It was Grasseyes, not the whole clan who should be punished for this. But who's to say that they weren't all in this? The clan could've been hiding it all along. This fueled my passion and i dug my claws into an apprentice's back, and I remembered his name. Vinepaw. Yeah, that was it. I didn't care though. He looked barely out of the nursery and i landed a heavy blow on his muzzle and he went running. I smiled, willing the next cat to challenge me, and claws raked the back of my head, making me fall. I whipped around, baring my teeth to see Prickleflower there, her eyes filled with hate. I glared back at her. Then she charged at me.
She's a full grown warrior. I reminded myself, but then I answered back, So what? I bet if I was still in Flareclan I would've been a warrior by now. I shook my head clear of my thoughts, blood splattering on the ground in the process, but I ignored it. One more battle scar to wear. As soon as I did that, I barely had enough time to sidestep out of her bath, stumbling and falling, and she crashed down right next to me. "Don't think you can beat me, apprentice!" she hissed. "I'm not an apprentice, I'm a rouge." I snapped back, getting up, and cuffed both her ears. She staggered, but her paw lashed out and I found myself falling again. "Can't keep on your feet?" she taunted, pinning me down, but i managed to clot her ear in the process. Then her claws struck at my exposed belly. I winced in pain, and she did it again, and again. Each time my vision got blacker and blacker, and then I came close to dying.

When we came into battle, I immediately found Grasseyes,. knowing that it was my fight with him, none of the other rouges attacked him. But the weird thing is, he was sitting in the middle of camp, looking at the entrance, when we barged in.  Maybe he expected it... but how did he know? Did a rouge tell him, a spy perhaps? No.... Not possible. They all were against the clans, no one would betray us to them. Doesn't matter anyway, I never told them not to tell.
I lunged at him, already aiming at his throat. A snarl built in my throat as my claws sunk into his chest instead as he tried to jump up, so, improvising, I pulled him back down to the ground, sending him crashing down.
"A little slow today?" I taunted, but a powerful blow to my face sent my me reeling. When I regained myself, I approached him again, but this time he was ready, and ran on the side of my, raking his claws all the way down my flank. I bit back a yowl, and spun around, and lashed my claws out, hoping to connect with fur.
And I did, but the blow was weak, and had no force behind it. Then I looked behind Grasseyes in horror. Some bodies of the rouges were on the ground, bloody and un-moving, and then the rouges were each facing two clan warriors. We were outnumbered now! Some of the rouges already fled. I fought back the panic rising in my chest. We may have lost, but I need to do what I've come here to do. The sudden feeling of cold calculation made me pin down Grasseyes with one blow, and his clawing turned into flailing.. My claws were already raised for the deathblow.
"Should I kill you?" I asked him. He glared back at me. "Weakness wins over rage, every time." he said. "Not weakness, nor rage for you is what I contain. Only justice." I raked my claws over both his ears, and he went running into the forest. I suddenly was flooded with a sudden feeling. That seemed too easy, but what for? I wondered. And then looked to see cats surrounding me, but all of them were clan cats, and they looked angry.
